Research experience is an integral component of undergraduate education and training in the sciences. In particular, it is typically the first time students have the opportunity to apply classroom concepts and laboratory techniques to the solution of a real-life scientific problem. Towards this end, SCSU has developed an NHIC (New Haven Innovation Collaborative) Summer Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program.
This program has two major components; summer internships at local bioscience companies and on-campus research experiences with a focus on bioscience fields — including molecular biology, microbiology, biochemistry, drug discovery, bio-nanotechnology, neuroscience, and more. The NHIC summer REU program is open to students from colleges and universities in the greater New Haven area, and is designed to help prepare them for future internships and/or employment at local leading companies by providing them will core skills and hands-on experience.
